Hello, we are the futants. We make music to entertain ourselves and sometimes others. Our music has been called avant-garde jazz, rock instrumental, and cartoony music. While we prefer not to be lumped into any category, we do recognize that a lot of our songs have these elements in them. Truthfully, we don't know how we arrive to the point of certain songs, but we just do. Maybe its our heroes. We recognize our influences as being Thinking Fellers Union, Eric Dolphy, Stockhausen, The Damned, Archie Shepp, The Residents and many others. These artists all differ greatly but follow a basic premise we like. Music with melody falling into the creepy side of things. More importantly, they let things fall apart and disintegrate into chaos. We like that. The current instrument lineup is the following: rhodes piano, assorted analog keys, bass clarinet, saxophone, trombone, bass, drums. We currently have six members and have up to eight at on time. We very rarely vocalize as we enjoy writing instrumentals only.
